Led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the ceremony was held earlier today, 14 July 2025, at the site where the new two-story terminal will stand and serve the flying public once it is completed in 2027.
Emphasizing the importance of the government’s collaboration with the private sector to improve transport infrastructure in the country, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon expressed gratitude to San Miguel Corporation (SMC) for their commitment in completing the new PTB.
The groundbreaking and time capsule laying ceremony attracted the attendance of representatives from local government units, concerned government agencies, and partners from the private sector with Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Deputy Director General for Administration Atty. Danjun G. Lucas representing CAAP in the event.
Projected to handle seven (7) million passengers per year, with a simultaneous capacity of 3,000 passengers at any given time, the new Caticlan Airport PTB will have modern facilities to ensure efficient passenger flow, comfort and safety.
By virtue of a concession agreement with the DOTr and CAAP, the airport is currently being operated by SMC subsidiary Trans Aire Development Holdings Corporation (TADHC).
