The name means Saint Erik's Plaza and is called so after King Erik IX who is the patron saint of Stockholm and depicted in the city's coat of arms.
The main street of the S:t Eriksplan area is Rörstrandsgatan with its many shops and restaurants. The short street of about 400 meters is said to have the most restaurants per meter in Stockholm.
