  • Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay is a landmark for Singapore, in keeping with its desire to be the cultural heart of Southeast Asia. It is situated along Esplanade Drive fronting the Marina Bay and Elizabeth Walk, near the mouth of the Singapore River. The beginning of the Theatres on the Bay can be traced to June 1990, when the Singapore government approved a decision to build a performing arts centre. A reclaimed site was chosen and architects from all over the world were invited to submit their designs. To see photos and read more, visit: http://www.asiaexplorers.com/singapore/esplanade.htm
