Wytham Woods are probably the most researched area of woodland in the world. Almost one thousand scientific papers have been produced from work based at Wytham.
The Woods cover one thousand acres. They contain meadows, fens and ponds as well as a variety of woodland types. Ranging from semi-natural ancient woods to recent plantations.
The Woods were bequeathed to the University in 1943.
