Situated at an altitude of 112 meters (368 feet) below sea level, Lake Afrera is a body of water with extremely high level of salinity, and is located in the Afar Region of northeastern Ethiopia. The picturesque green-colored lake is about 26km (16mi) long, and is 8km (5mi) wide; it covers a surface area of about 122km² (47mi²).
