  This former bastion of heroin addiction featured streets littered with tiny hypodermic needles in the early to mid 1990's Today all evidence of that culture is gone. This is one of the few remaining downtown areas that hasn't seen complete and utter gentrification. Unlike the "Pearl" neighborhood there is still much to be seen in terms of original Portland architecture.

  One cold November morning my fiance was found dead in a motel above some shady business. They said she'd been drinking and tested positive for coke and heroin. It destroyed me. I was supposed to get her a ride home but had missed her call because she was released from jail two weeks early. I attempted suicide to join her like we had discussed because dieing alone and being " out there all alone was both our worst fears" but ended up with a prison sentence instead. I learned to draw while doing that time and took up tattooing upon my release. I live in Sweden now, its been a long long time but my hearts still broken and I miss her so very much. We had some good times down there on the streets of the PDX, dancing into the night at the City Night Club, two heterosexuals telling the OCA where they could go. Acid and the 24 Hour Church of Elvis. Spanging to arm the homless, or maybe just hook one of em up with a warm fix of junk. Hanging with the crew slinging in the park blocks. Partaking in the art and poetry of the summer nights. It was 1999 if im not mistaking, feels just like yesterday. WYLEE BABY if you can hear my teary eyed plea, I MISS YOU, LOVE YOU, cherish you just as much as ever, fact more so every day, AND ALWAYs will till and beyond my dieing day.
