The locality is named after the great Bengali story writer Sarat Chandra Chatterjee. Here lives Sekhar Roy, a writer, an eminent jouranlist of an English Weekly and author of a few books of literature and social science. Its a newly populated area made on the dead-Ganga basin. Mostly migrated from Sunderban area and many of them are from backward class and having good families. It is a very peaceful and cordial locality.
