Ukilpara

Ukilpara is an old 'para' or area in the heart of Baruipur. It is said to be named after its resident the famous lawyer or 'ukil' Mr Kedarnath Bhattacharyya of late nineteenth century. The central road of this area is called Ukilpara Road which is a chief mode of communication when there is any problem in the Main road or, Kulpi road. The important administerial offices like the Baruipur Municipality, Baruipur Post Office, Baruipur Hospital, Baruipur Telephone Exchange all are situated in this area. There are many important schools also. It is bordered by Baruipur Railway station and other Para or area like Shahjahan Road, Madarat, Pal para, Datta para, Natun para, Golpukur etc. Gradually smaller areas or sub-areas are developed from within this large area. They are North Ukilpara, East Ukilpara, Sukanta Sarani etc.
