Navy Information Operations Command, Georgia (NIOC-G) began life as Naval Security Group Activity, Fort Gordon (NSGAFG).

NSGAFG was commissioned on November 1, 1995 at Fort Gordon, GA to perform Naval Security Group related functions as directed, and to perform such other functions and tasks as directed by higher authority. Specifically, NSGAFG provided cryptologic personnel to support the Fort Gordon Regional Security Operations Center (GRSOC). In the summer of 2005, the GRSOC was renamed as the National Security Agency / Central Security Service, Georgia (NSA/CSS GA). NSA/CSS Georgia serves as a joint service facility establishd by the Director, National Security Agency to conduct continuous security operations on selected targets in support of national and warfighter intelligence requirements from Fort Gordon using remoting technologies.

On October 1, 2005, NSGAFG was realigned under NETWARCOM and renamed the Navy Information Operations Command, Georgia. NIOC-G continues to provide Information Warfare and Cryptologic support to Fleet and Joint Force Commanders as well as NSA/CSS Georgia.
