restaurant, historical layer / disappeared object
A diner had been on this site since WWII. At one time it was just a rail car and was owned by the parents of George Tenet who served as director of the Central Intelligence Agency. He was a busboy / waiter here for 5 years, earning money to buy his first car. It became named Scobee Diner in 1960. At the expiration of a 30-year lease the property was put up for sale and a bid by the restaurant owners was not high enough to takeover property ownership. The diner closed on December 1, 2010.
