  This is the place where Buddha's first devotee's Thapassu Balluka landed with Buddha's hair relic. Later they climb to the top of 210 feet Thiriyaya rock and rest. When they want to leave the casket contains Buddha's hair relic unmovable. So they built Srilanka's first Stupa atop of Thiriyaya rock covering the casket. This Arisimale beachhead and the Thiriyaya temple today in Kuchchvali Divisional Secretariat. There is a temple in Arisimale and late Minister Cyril Mathew grant 500 acres to the temple but did not survey the area due to terrorist problems. Before 80's it is about 35 sinhala families and less than 10 muslim families lived there. Because of the war monks and all the families fled the area. After the war people came back. Panamure Thilakawansa thero also back in the temple. Recently government tried to survey the temple land of 500 acres but due to protest of muslims in Pulmode area with Provincial councillor R.M.Anwar, abandoned it. This PC said if 500 acres grant to the temple where to go muslim people lives here. He further said he received 9000 applicants from muslim people in this area for lands. If only less than 10 muslim families lived there before 80's and then how come he received 9000 applicants? This is a conspiracy to colonise this buddhist sacred area by settle muslims bring down from somewhere else most probably from Pulmode and Nilavali area. This is one of the Land robbery going on in Eastern Srilanka by Muslims. Government must take a stern action to protect this beach front and the 500 acres belong to Asirimale Temple.
