This vernacular cottage home was built in 1920 for Theodore Catlett and his wife, Lucy May (Parr) Catlett, an African-American domestic. Originally a part of the property now known as 1117 Caroline Street, the land upon which rests the home is at the upper northeast corner of the original 50 acres of the town of Fredericksburg. The Virginia House of Burgesses established the boundaries of what later became the city of Fredericksburg in 1728.
