Chicago Firehouse Restaurant (Chicago, Illinois)

USA / Illinois / Chicago / Chicago, Illinois / South Michigan Avenue, 1401
restaurant, landmark, fire service, interesting place

The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant was formerly the home of the Chicago Fire Department Engine Company 104. Unlike the CFD standard red brick, this building is constructed of yellow brick, in 1905. Scenes from the movie Backdraft were filmed within.

The firehouse was closed because it doors did not fit modern firetrucks, and the restaurant was opened in 2000. Naturally, its new owners kept as much of the fire department fittings as possible.
