Looking towards Phan Thiet, i.e., up abandoned runway 07 (070 degrees). The box is placed approximately where I stood when taking the photo in October 2004. In February 1967, many times I landed and tookoff here -- the field was then covered with PSP (perforated steel planking) -- once making an emergency landing (100% hydraulic failure), a fire truck and a dozen aviators flanked the upper reaches of the runway. BTW, the map was scanned from a sheet dated/labeled "July 1969--RVNAF"; it was recently bought in Saigon.
