  • No political comments please. This is a geographical site.
  • It is not for India or Pakistan to decide who "takes" Kashmir but for the Kashmiri people to decide.
  • well said Alan ..... in civilised world people should decide their own fate
  • shame on you guys who always are thinking of separating land in countries. It all belongs to Allah.
  • As a matter of historical consequence, Sahaksgam valley is a geographical territory of Baltistan region which is unquestionably a part of Pakistan. But Pakistan is a small, weak and badly ruled/administered country and our opportunist rulers (whether autocrat or democrat) have always looked for short term, escapist policies. Although, China being a friendly country of Pakistan has used her anextionist policy as a regional super power to browbeat (by war tactic or friendly negotiation) both India and Pakistan.
  • when two cats fight the gain alwase go to the monkey we alll know who are cats and who is the monkey
  • i think the only political solution is to let india have jammu and kashmir and pakistan gilgit baltistan and china askai chin. Neither india nor pakistan can tolerate to leave or separate this integral region. siachin should be a peace park between the two countries. the visa services should be eased. this is the only rational step that we can take. i have heard many indians who want to enjoy the beauty of pakistani kashmir. May Allah bring peace in this region
  • They should decide but not again and again. The Kashmiris decided it through their then rulers in 1948 after the Pakistani attack. Do they have a right to revise the decision ? It is not Europe but a very backward area of the planet, decisions cost human lives one way or the other.
  • It is a stretch to believe that Pak , India or China will put up a saintly act and renounce. So make the simla agreement lines permanent, get over the losers syndrome and focus on development & peace . Let the people be the winners.
  • Masha Allah .. Subhan Allah
  • Peace between Pakistan and India is wishful thinking. War cannot be settled except by war. It is not a war for commercial reasons, like African and Arab wars caused by interest of outsiders in minerals, but a war over emotions. The population is too primitive to have the capacity for rational thinking and leaders are too selfish to allow emotions to die down. War could solve the emotional difficulties provided the leaders permit the war to reach its own natural conclusion, clear victory and defeat. It is not likely to happen. This dispute is not likely to get solved ever.
  • Nothing was decided by their ruler. It was always going to be decided by a plebiscite which has never happened. Rise above your nationalist emotions and have a look at history
  • just people of the valley can decide their own fate
  • Well said
  • In 1959, Pakistan became concerned that Chinese maps showed areas of land under Pakistani control in China. In 1961, Ayub Khan sent a formal Note to China. After Pakistan voted to grant the PRC a seat in the United Nations, the PRC withdrew the disputed maps in January 1962, agreeing to enter border talks in March.Negotiations between the nations officially began on October 13,1962 and resulted in an agreement being signed on 2 March 1963. The agreement resulted in China and Pakistan each withdrawing from about 1,900 square kilometres (750 square miles) of territory, and a boundary on the basis of the 1899 British Note to China as modified by Lord Curzon in 1905. Hassan,Srinagar, kashmir
  • The agreement was moderately economically advantageous to Pakistan, which received grazing lands in the deal, but of far more significance politically, as it both diminished potential for conflict between China and Pakistan and placed China formally and firmly on record as maintaining that Kashmir did not, as yet, belong to India.Under this Sino-Pakistan Agreement, Pakistani control to a part of northern Kashmir was recognized by China..Hassan,Srinagar,Kashmir.
  • If India had acted in the same manner in 1962,it wouldn't have lost 42000 square Kms,in Aksai Chin, to China.Boundary issues, throughout the civilized world, are settled in a mature way between the neighbours and wars are avoided.Pakistan behaved wisely.Allah bless Pakistan.....Hassan,Srinagar,Kashmir.
  • A vast majority in JK wants to join Pakistan, what about them???
