The promenade still exists. Its bounds are the White Tower to the east and the port to the west. It is called old because it is the first of the two main promenades of the city. The other promenade, the "new" promenade lies to the east of the White Tower and stretches down to the Thessaloniki Concert Hall. The literal translation would be the "Old Seaside" however, promenade is the more descriptive term.
