Mt. Matutum is 2286 meters (asl) and its name is said to came from B'laan term Amyak Maleh which means Climb and Plant. Mt. Matutum provides 25% of SOCSARGEN's water requirements.
Mt. Matutum Heritage and Protected Landscape was declared on March 25, 1995 through Presidential Proclamation by then Pres. Fidel Ramos (extent of the protected area is shown in the polygon). It is included in the tentative list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
