Jamaica House, Office of the Prime Minister
Built as Prospect Pen in 1694, it was one of the homes of estate owner Simon Taylor who operated Holland Estate in the east of the island. He was also a military general and member of the Legislative Assembly from 1763 to 1810.
Until 1926 the main entrance was reached by a 1.5 km palm-lined driveway. In 1928 the British Colonial Office bought the estate as the home of the Colonial Minister. After Independence in 1962 the mansion became the Official Residence of the Prime Minister of Jamaica.
The house and grounds are not open to the public.
