A small hospital unit in the name of Lagadamane Nagabhatta was started in early fifties. The people in and arround used to suffer various illness which were prone to malanad area which are sorrounded by dense forest. Many placess had no roads and hence no transport & communication for the major part of the year. It was next to impossibility to take any patients to any hospitals especially to nearby Tirthahalli hospital in the rainy season which use to spread for more than 6 months in a year. Mr Shankaranarayana Bhatta among other local leaders strived hardly to get a hospital to serve the sick people in the sorronding villages. Dr V Praremeshwar, now the eminent cordioligist in Bangalore was the first Docter to serve in this hospital. Now in the passage of time the hospital has been developed as PHC providing preventive, promotive and curative services.
