  • We stayed at this Field Hostel when we first moved here from Pune in 1966. The Russians were also housed here and were responsible for setting up the IDPL Pilot Plant etc. We went to a small school called Bramleigh Towers (it had a branch in Mussoorie) in the IDPL colony that only went to 8th Std and then went to boarding School in Dehradun. We loved trains and used to walk to the Virbhadra railway station to watch the Hardwar-Rishikesh passenger go through. We moved to E-233 later on just opposite the IDPL club. A lot of memories. Anjan
  • Yes it was great.I remember our Russian Friends,Ola,Lousa,Olechka, Dr Oscahi,the Russian movies (particularly the war movies in black and white,the broaches with the erstwhile CCCP,the sleepy gardener and Sudama the cook!! Our two jeeps 7673 and 7674 that were allotted to Dad as Chief Controller of R&D. The CWD class steam locos that used to pull in the shuttle between Hardwar and Rishikesh.The poultry farm which we save from a blaze with the help of the IDPL fire brigade and the presents we received in the form of three lovely chickens which grew up to become a part of the family- "Sameface,Boom Boom and Charlie". I wonder what happened to our friends,Vivek Gupta,Arun and Uday Nadkarni,Ajay Arora,Malkeet Singh,etc.. Palak
