  • This is a depot where conventional bombs were kept. One summer, in the eighties, there was a forest fire close to the depot, and the Forestry Office asked the Air Force Division Commander for help. The Commander refused to help. The wind soon blew the fire to the depot, a huge heap of wooden bomb tare caught fire, and small bombs began detonating. A few 3-ton bombs detonated too, shattering windows up to 10 kilometers away. The 5-ton bombs did not detonate because they were stored in a different manner. The men guarding the depot hid in an underground bunker and emerged later, scared stiff, but unharmed. They say military intelligence has as much in common with intelligence as military music has in common with music. :^)
  • fire was in 1984
