school, place with historical importance, heritage, community centre / hall
This impressive structure was designed by the Scottish architect David Webster and was completed in 1912. The brick and granite building with its imposing central tower represents the British heritage of many of the city's first settlers. Albert School served as an elementary school until 1979, when it was converted into a community hall. It operates today as the Albert Community Centre, and is designated a municipal heritage site.
