Originally the International Market Place was a small outdoor shopping center on the portion of the property facing Kalakaua Avanue with large Banyan trees. That market closed in January, 2014 and was demolished, along with the buildings on the rest of the property along Kuhio Avenue. The mall opened in 2016 with a mix of 75 retail shops anchored by Saks 5th Avenue.
