ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER PARISH (Cabcaben, Mariveles, Bataan) (Mariveles)

Philippines / Central Luzon / Cabcaben / Mariveles

According to the old folks, this parish was established during the Spanish era. But no records have been found regarding the establishment and erection.

It was formally established by late 20's or 30's.

Different disasters torn out the said church, due to natural calamities, fires, etc. The worst havoc was experienced during the WWII where the church was destructed when Cabcaben was bombed during the last line of defense of Filipino and American troops in Bataan and Corregidor.

This parish recovered after the WWII, and re-established. It was run by different diocesan and missionary priests to spread the catholic faith in this area.

It was named in honor of St. Joseph, whom was husband of Mary and the second father of Jesus. A meek and silent man, whom raised Jesus during his childhood and teen years.

And it was believed according to the folklore that St. Joseph appeared when Cabcaben suffered from a disaster of calamity.
