In the early 1940's Frank Chantala purchased land from CF&I Steel Corp on the St. Charles Mesa to expand his operation. After his passing Louis Chantala, bought and sold dairy and beef cattle, rodeo stock and exotic birds; provided a place for junior cowboys and cowgirls to practice and perform, he sold this land that became the FIRST MULTIMILLION DOLLAR subdivision in the county (Lakeside Manor Estates) and furnished land southeast of Pueblo that produced 6.8 million tons of gravel, supplying asphalt for regional road projects for more than two decades. There were 28 acres sectioned off from Lakeside Manor Estates where Louis ran Chantala Ranch and Feedlot, Chantala Rodeo Co and where his granddaughter, Kacee Willbanks inherited 20 acres and is now keeping the rodeo history alive!
