Formerly St. Leo School (closed in 1990), Beth Jacob Synagogue moved into the building in the early 1990s. They had previously occupied the synagogue on Victoria Avenue and Osler Street, which was opened in 1950.

The Jewish community in Regina traces back as far as 1891, when nine Jewish families were counted. The first synagogue was built on St. John Street in 1913.
