Wilmington, Delaware is the state's largest city with an approximate population of 73,000 people. Originally settled in 1638, this was Sweden's only attempt at colonization in the new world.
The greater Wilmington-Newark metro area consists of approximately 600,000 people, and is a smaller portion of the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area.)
Wilmington was a giant in shipbuilding and trainbuilding throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries. In the late 20th Century, the city shifted to the service industry, and now majors in Credit Card Banking, Corporate Law, and DuPont's chemical industry.
