Banglatand’ is a ‘Muhalla’ at Chakradharpur municipality; This Muhallah was bifurcated and made Ward No 12, 13 & 14. The name Banglatand was derived from its geographical location. The area grew in an open area [tand] behind daak bungalow [Bangla].
This is one of the interesting place of the city. It is a mix population Muhallah where Muslim are in majority with few affluent Hindu ,christian family speaking Hindi,Urdu,Telgu,Bengali,Oria and Ho languages. Most of the inhabitants are involved in local business. They used to sell goods in neighboring weekly market. Before a handful of them were involved in agriculture. But, due to rapid expansion, most of the agriculture lands were acquired for construction of houses, so they also change their occupation. The standard of living can be determined from fact that there is one Government Primary School. Most of the families prefer sending their son to help male guardian in business instead of school.
The inhabitants of this muhalla lack access to basic amenities. Absence of concrete road, drinking water ,medical and recreational facilities ,and also improper drainage system due to random development often become bone of contention among neighbors. In rainy season water accumulation everywhere makes their life a hell.
