Once a great challenge between Sree Vayu ( god of wind) and Sree Athiseshan about who among the more powerful! Sreesesha moorthi revolved around the meru hills with his whole body and Sree Vayu Bagavan was tried to shake the hill! After a very long time Sree Vayu Bagavan only able to split a part of the hill which was broken as seven parts fall in Dhakshina Bharatham! One of the part becomes Kodumudi !
The other moorthees here are Thirimuga ( three faced) Brahma, Veerathanda (Koraippal – big toothed) Anjaneya Swami, timeless vanni virukhsam (tree).Hymns by moovar – thirugnana sambandhdhar, appar peruman, and sree sundhdhara moorthigal.

Location:Kodumudi is situated 34 kms from Karur on the way to Erode!

It contains many gods inside... One beautiful thing is a tree having the age more than 2000 is present in Brahmas sannidhi, U can see Vishnu in his Bed(Five headed snake). If u go some yards from the temple, you can see the banks of Cauvery River...
