The Marblehead Coastal parcel is one of the last and certainly one of the most important ocean front developments in Orange County. The local citizens have taken a keen interest in this project to insure that it will enhance the unique fabric of this community while maintaining an economic balance. Marblehead Coastal has been in the planning stages for the last ten years and has recently received Coastal Commission approval to move forward.

The 248-acre Marblehead Coastal master-planned community was to include a 640,000-square-foot Marblehead Coastal outlet center on land purchased from SunCal, and 118 homes.

  • In November of 2008 the Marblehead developer, SunCal, announced that the Marblehead partnership has been placed in Chapter 11 bankruptcy "with the goal of obtaining new funding for its 248-acre Marblehead Coastal master-planned community. So far that's been ineffective.
