  • Hi,
  • Bzebdine is a lovely town with beautiful scenery. Pines surrend the village from all isdes. Air is clean and fresh. Many houses are old and few are upgraded especially after they were burned during the Lebanese War. Alleys and streets are narrows and go up and down in an unpredictable way. The people are mostly friendly and helpful to each others especially in time of needs or celebrations. The village is divided into sections, one hilly lands that streches majestically and occupied by the Druze. The center and low land are reserved for the Maronite-Christians. These two religious groups have lived side by side for centuries with little frictions or animosities, except during the Lebanese Civil War where few people were killed and many houses were burned. Bzebdine occupied a strategic location due to its proximity to Beirut and other important towns and cities. It is bordered by larger towns, like himmanah, dhur a--shweir, Be'bdat among others. It is about 30 minutes from the Capital.

  • I know the Abohoshes. I remember a Camille Abohosh. Are you possibly related to them? Both of my maternal grandparents are from Bzebdine. Grandmother's last name was Kelley and grandfather Ackels. Of course, these names were probably changed when they came to America.
  • My grandmother and her family are from there. Haifa Shaker. she had brothers and sisters, and a niece that was a mother superior of a convent. Any help for info would help.
