    Valam was established more than 5000 years ago.Valmiki Rishi had Aashram here. It was famous for Justice to all. This is the only villege where all the 18 varnas lived and flourished. About a mile away there is a Sarvodaya Aashram, which was pioneer in Solar cooing and Gobar gas cooking. About 55 years small scale industries of making Neem Soap , Matches, Khadi weaving was started. The villege is full of many large size temples like: Ramji Mandir, Krishna Mandir, Suleshwari Mata, Ambaji mata, Madhi-Shiva temple,Chakalia Dev, Pallai,SurajBa temple, Hadkeshwar Mahadev, Neminath Jain temple, Swaminarayan Temple,Rama peer Temple, Kalia-Dhoria, Shitala Mata, Ratanji Veer, Khodiar Mata. The villege have produced many brave people like Ratanji Veer, Bhandas Bha. And many Scientists,Pricipals, professors, Industrialists. The villege has produced maximum number of teachers in the area. The unique Vav-Stepwell is in the center of the Valam. Narasinh Mehta, the enlightened Gujarati poet/Bhakta when went for Kuvarbai,s Mameru, took a rest at Valam. And the famous eight days mela at Suleshwari mata and different event on each day are very worth enjoing

    Valam is a biggest Village in Mahesana Disrict. People of Valam celebrating Festival HATHIYA- THATHU in Chaitra mas ( Hindu calander ) .Its has a beautiful Ranchor temple and torana also . The temple built up by Solanki Kings in 12th century. Temple Detail : Ranchor Temple : The Garbhgruha ,Mandovar and Sabhamandap are Square . In the Mandovar’s Jangha Astadikpal and Vishnu’s 10 Different Sculpture . inside of garbhagruha first sculpture is Durvasa Muni , Aradhak , Vasudev Keshav and Narayan’s Beautiful Sculpture . We can find Torana (Gate) in front of temple . The Suleshwari temple : The Godess Suleshwari is Ishta Devi of Valam’s Patidar. Step Well : The Step well Sculpture we can not See it.     valam is a historical place, where all casts live. people here celebrates a big historic festival named HATHIYA-THATHU. they spend 5 days in this festival, people from the world come to see this amazing race. in this race they make hathiyo and thathu, they devide the village in two parts and a race between this two parts is amazing scene to see. this race takes place at night around 2-3 am. they use 4 bullocks for this race. thesr is an auction takes place in the village, to decide who's bullock will take part in this race. they make thathu and the thathu will go and invite yhathyo for the race, from this place the race takes place. they will have to go to all temples and pray in therace and at the end whoever reach to the main (suleshwari) temple is the winner of the race. this is a two day function, the same process takes place the next day as well, but the fair starts 3 days prior to this race. there are aroung 50 people sits in thathu, and when it runs we feel like its earthquack. eevryone must go and see this festival once in their life. they organise residence for tourists as well. this festival takes place in summer hgolidays
