Originally 2 Old Russian villages : (1) Blagodarnoye (founded 1870s) on the east road which was renamed Chamak, and Chalkavur on the west side which has been joined with Chakmak and its name abandoned. Both villages were predominately inhabited by Spiritual Christians (Molokane and Pryguny) from Russia.
From 1904-1912, some migrated to Los Angeles California USA , where their congregation merged with others to form a larger congregation. In 1926, some moved to east Rostov province, USSR (Russia). After 1930, many Pryguny transformed into various Spiritual Christian Dukhizhiznik faiths. In 1962 most were relocated to Stavropol' territory, USSR.
Cemetery is nearly destroyed by military tanks using headstones for shooting practice.
