Birkur is one of the historical fort built next to Manjeera river bed in the anicent period. Birkoor is Mandal HQ (mdl code-19) in Nizamabad Dt, AP. Rich of agricultural farms with Paddy, Sugar Cane, Peanuts, Sunflower are the major crops. Birkur is a cosmopolitan village/suburbs with mix of locals, local tribes, people from across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharastra.
