Al Mahrah or Mahra (Arabic: المهرة) is a governorate (muhafazah) of Yemen in the southern Arabian Peninsula in the area of the former Mahra Sultanate. Its capital is Al Ghaydah.
The Sultanate also included Socotra and adjecent islands. It was ruled by the Banu Afrar dynasty, who were ousted in 1967 by a communist insurgency as well as all the other Monarchs in South Arabia.
