Designed by Parkinson and Bergstrom, the original Bullock's building at 7th and Broadway was constructed in 1906 and first housed the El Imperio Department Store. Bullock's was founded in 1907 by John G. Bullock, with the support of The Broadway Department Store owner Arthur Letts.

The store was expanded at Hill & 7th in 1929 and again with the Store for Men on Hill in 1934. The complex is now St. Vincent Jewelry Center, with the original Bullock's building serving as the parking garage.

The last picture shows the former Lankershim Flats building, which used to occupy this site until it was torn down so Bullock's could go up in its place.
