Attractiveness
Baja is a multiracial town with 40.000 inhabitants. The extremely rich natural environment, the possibility of the Danube traversing gave important role to the town during the centuries. It became the common living space and home of the Hungarian, German, Serbian, Croatian nationalities during the historical events. The hospitality, multi-coloured tradition keeping culture, architecture, handicraft of the local people made Baja one of the most prominent tourist centre of the South Great Plain region. Visitors are welcomed with colourful programs and besides theatre, music and artistic experience, they can enjoy gastronomic experience as well. The town settled on the left bank of the Danube and its surroundings is the world of sunshine, water and forest hiding colourful fauna. There are only a few similar places in Europe, where the harmony of the river, the natural riverbanks and gallery forests can be admired. The Kamarás-Danube (Sugovica) as a rare present of nature flows near the town in a tender span and surrounds the tourist paradise Petofi-island together with Ferenc-channel. It can be reached across a bridge from the town centre, there is a pavement along the shady riverbank. Fishermen, swimmers and water-sport fans find ideal conditions for recreation.

Special attractiveness
The annual Fish Soup Cooking Festival on the second Saturday of each July attracts thousands of people to Baja's main square from all over the world. This is a feast, not a contest! Friends, acquaintances, sit around the pots, there are well-known actors, sportsmen, politicians among them. There must be good quality wine on the tables of the enormous open-air restaurant, entertainment is ensured by high-standard folklore and pop music programs. The Baja fish soup can be tasted in most restaurants of the town every day.

The Danube and its small tributaries, the Mediterranean atmosphere of the town, the hospitality of the local people offer idea conditions for those who whish to rest and for the fans of water sports - rowing, boating, canoeing, swimming, fishing.

Europe's greatest connecting flood-basin forest offers unique hunting possibilities. Wonderful area, evocative environment for those who want to relax and rest.
