  • Lupon is my first hometown. Most of my wonderful memories are made in Lupon. Made a lot of friends that sadly, I could not remember their names. I could only remember maybe twenty or so, but I won't mention them here. Lupon is the place where I learned to play, sumpak, tumba lata, beros, shatong and more fun games with friends and school mates. I could not even remember the names some of those games, but I can still remember the fun and enjoyment. I even have memorable fights and squabbles with the locals. Memorable adventures. Me and my brothers would walk about the town from Poblacion, to Ilangay, to Townsite, to Bay-Bay and the punongs and rice fields going towards Banay-Banay along the seashore. We always get in trouble with our parents once they found out where we were. We wondered how did they know. Little did we know that elders around the town knew us and told our parents where they saw us. Lupon was a big place for little kids like us. I could not replace those memories. We left Lupon on December 1975. It was so sad leaving those friends and classmates. I remember we shed a tear or so. All the family headed to Manila and stay there for 7 years and continued our journey to Australia on June 1983. We lived in a small town here in Australia for start. It became our second hometown. We started from zero again and worked our way up. Now we are successful here in Australia. We created new adventures, but it could never replace the life experience that Lupon offered us. It took me 25 years before my first visit to Lupon on December 1999. It revitalised my childhood memories. I loved it. This is why whenever I visit the Philippines, I never missed visiting Lupon my hometown. I always drive or walk around the town, rain or shine. Checking every memorable place. Wondering if it changed from the last time I visited it. I was just there on December 31, 2016 attending My aunt's Birthday. Lupon, never failed to please me every time I step on that familiar soil. God Bless Lupon.
