temple, castle, archeological site
arabic designation, means: castle in the gardens what is a little bit strange as it is situated today in the middle of the desert. In ancient times, it was definitly different. Qasr al Ghueita was the centre of a rich community based on agriculture and was famous for its grapes. The massive walls include a fortress and a temple , 25th dynasty, for Amun, Mut and Chons. Centuries later the walls served as the outer defending structure of a village against bedouins.
