This is a man made lake, built by Ganga kings over thousands of years ago for agriculture and domestic uses but now the lake is receiving 40% of the sewage water from Bangalore for over 50 years resulting in eutrophication.
Varthur Lake & Beside Sigma Soft Tech Park, occupied by Flextronics Software Systems along with Software companies(Wipro, L&T, WYISE)and BPO companies (Nirvana, ..etc)

Varthur Lake : Bellandur Lake overflows into Varthur lake. Agriculture land water and nearby village waste water also overflows into Varthur Lake. The morphometric features of the lake is as below:

    Unless a Water recyling plant is built and all the sewage water is re-directed to such plants, One has to some how manage with the foul smell. Government alone cannot do much about it. It needs public participation as well. LOVE Bangalore CARE Bangalore.
