NWS-9 is the Nine Network station in Adelaide, South Australia. Owned and operated by Southern Cross Broadcasting, the station has tried to localise television production in South Australia, with limited success.
History
NWS-9 began broadcasting on 5 September 1959. NWS-9 was the first television station broadcasting in Adelaide. NWS-9 studios is located at Tynte Street, North Adelaide. The station was owned by Rupert Murdoch who also owned The News newspaper. Popular shows produced in the past at NWS 9 include the variety show Adelaide Tonight, science show The Curiosity Show, The Country and Western Hour, children's show Channel Niners.
Between 1980 and 1982, the station was owned by NBN Television of Newcastle, and was sold to the Lamb Family in exchange for their stake of NBN.
Some Adelaide-produced shows today include Here's Humphrey, the high rating Postcards, Out of the Blue, Garden Guru's SA, Building Ideas and Feeling Good.

National Nine News newsreaders are Kevin Crease and Rob Kelvin on Monday-Friday (making them the only male newsreading duo in Australia) and Georgina McGuiness on Saturday & Sunday. Sport in presented by Kym Dillon on Monday-Friday and Mark Bickley on Saturday & Sunday. Weather is presented by Keith Martyn on Monday-Friday and Xavier Minniecon on Saturday & Sunday. National Nine News Sunday usually is the highest rating program in Adelaide. A Current Affair usually receives lower ratings than Today Tonight on SAS-7.
