Adelaide city centre is the innermost locality of Greater Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. It is known by locals simply as "The City" or "Town" to distinguish it from Greater Adelaide and from the City of Adelaide (which also includes North Adelaide and the Park Lands).

  • Just been looking at the city centre entries of other Australian capitals (Brisbane and Sydney don't have them), what is it about Adelaide that attracts all this negative comment? It seems to be popular to bash Adelaide.
  • I have to say being from Sydney it was a big differance from many other Australian cities. There wasnt a lot of development going on, and the skyline wasnt all too great. It has some very nice parks though.
  • i think that the bigger cities are the racist ones around here like sydney and brisbane
  • For me, the fact that "there wasn't a lot of development going on" is the main appeal of Adelaide as compared to other capital cities. In fact, I find that Adelaide has the right ingredients for us who are trying to balance our hectic working life with a laid-back, relaxed lifestyle. And speaking of skyline, at least we could still see the sky when we look further up. Unlike in another state capital where all you can see are cables.
  • I thought SAWATER was sold off to a French company in the 1990s by then premier, Olsen. Visitors really appreciate the old architecture in Adelaide and are glad we have kept old homes, commercial and government buildings. I wouldn't want to raise children in any other city. Peak hour traffic is not typical: it's still possible to get from the foothills to the coast in about 20 minutes. I adore Adelaide and the ease of mobility.
  • I love adelaide Aulstralia.
  • I would say im a proud south australian. And being born in 1971 I ve seen so many changes in adelaide but the one thing that needs to change is the health and trnsport.
