April 15-17, 2008 about 200 patrons became ill with a gastrointestinal illness caused by a noroviris after eating Chipotle burritos at this particular restaurant. Most of the patrons were KSU students who had been given coupons for free Chipotle burritos after donating blood at a blood drive on the Kent State campus. The resturant reopened the following Saturday after renewing their food supplies and cleaning their equipment. This story made national news.
