The mediaeval village of Anavatos also known as the "Mystras of Chios" is built on a cliff, 450 meters above the sea level. It is also located in a area of a unique pine-covered forest which is the most important of Chios. Anavatos belongs to the municipality of Omiroupoliis but it is almost deserted today.
