Mogadiscio Stadium (Mogadishu)

Somalia / Banadir / Mogadishu
 stadium, military

With a capacity of 35,000 people, this was once Somalia's national stadium, used for both sports events and political ones. Now, it's just a shell. It was used as barracks by a Pakistani U.N. Peacekeeping force.

  • I wouldn't visit that place in a million years!
  • Lonely Planet says that Somaliland (except the disputed parts) is visitable, but recommends you bring a security team. Hargeysia would be a much better bet than Mogadishu, where you have to bring not only a security team but several thousand UN peacekeepers.
  • well, for the thrill seekers, nothing can stop them to go there. I even read a news about 2 american or british journalists who went there and got killed by somalis, i think they were beaten to death.
