Rustrel

France / Provence-Alpes-Cote-dAzur / Rustrel /

The village, dominated by its 16th-century château, boasts part of the multicoloured area nicknamed “Provencal Colorado.”
This unique private site owes its exceptional beauty to the work of four generations of farmers and ochre-quarriers, who exploited the site's natural beauty and resources to create a market garden in the valley and an ochre quarry in the hills. This balance is now somewhat fragile since the site fell into disuse.
In the village you can visit the Oil Mill Museum, which features equipment used for making olive oil, including some impressive olive presses. www.luberon-apt.fr
