Independence statue was unveiled on May 17, 1915 and symbolizes "Romania with sorrowful face for her sons who died valiantly in battle."
It is the work of the sculptor I. Iordanescu and it is near the park Mircea the Old.
The monument commemorates and honors the sacrifice of heroes of the War of Independence (1877-1878) and the fallen soldiers and officers during the campaign of 1913.
