The pre-eminent University in the whole of Norfolk and Suffolk. It was established in 1963. The campus is beautiful with a broad and surrounding parkland. There are about 12000 students who read various subjects from fine arts to microbial genetics. The nearby John Innes Center (a world renowned center for plant biotechnology) and Institute of Food Research and the Norwich & Norfolk University Hospital (N&N Hospital) are affiliated to the university. Collectively this area is also known as Norwich Research Park (NRP).
