Government Polytechnic Khamgaon is established in the year 1961 in the educationally and industrially backward Buldhana district of Maharashtra. This caters to the aspiration of the people in the region.
Khamgaon is a small town with a population of little over 1 Lac. It is a “ Taluka” Place in Buldana District. The world famous site of “LONAR” where oval shaped lake has been formed by a “METEOR” in prehistoric time is about 100 Km from Khamgaon .Another Historical town of “SINDKHED RAJA”, the birthplace of Maa Jijau, mother of Shri Shivaji Maharaj is about 80 Kms from Khamgaon.The holy saint “Shri Gajanan Maharaj had taken “SAMADHI” at Shegaon which is only 16 Kms away from here. Another famous holy place is of Shree Sailani Baba is located near Chikhli about 80 K.m. from here Khamgaon is also a major trading center for silver, cotton & other agriculture products since historical times.

Khamgaon is a well connected by road on National Highway No. 6 (Mumbai-Kolkatta) & By Railway on Mumbai-Kolkatta Line. Khamgaon is 16 Km away from Jalamb Junction on Central Railway & 16 Km away from Shegaon central railway station.
