Royal Netherlands Army Base "Harskamp / General Winkelman" (Dutch: Legerplaats Harskamp/ Generaal Winkelman Kazerne) is operational since 1899. In May 2007 it was renamed to Harskamp / General Winkelman in honour of General Winkelman. The previous army base at Nunspeet, the Netherlands was closed in 2007, hence the renaming. This army base is where infantry is being trained at the firing range nearby.
